Where do Rochester Senior Advisor's facts come from?

Rules are tied to the New York statute, regulation or Department of Health page that states them, prices to CareScout's 2025 New York data tables, Medicaid amounts to the department's 2026 GIS messages, population to the Census Bureau's Vintage 2025 estimates, and pension amounts to the VA's own rate tables.

What does Rochester Senior Advisor refuse to publish?

Anything we cannot trace to a primary source: estimated local prices, facility details found only in marketing material, customer reviews or testimonials, and any rating or ranking of our own design.

  • No Rochester-specific cost median: CareScout's data tables publish New York statewide medians only.
  • No memory care median: CareScout does not survey memory care.
  • No assisted living ratings: neither New York nor CMS rates assisted living, and we will not invent a score.
  • No facility details from marketing copy or operator websites.

When is the Rochester directory refreshed?

The directory is regenerated from the Department of Health's roster and quarterly capacity report (currently 2026 Q2), NYS Health Profiles records (retrieved October 31, 2026) and CMS's Provider Information dataset (data as of October 1, 2026) whenever the fetch script is rerun, normally each quarter.

Each listing page shows its source and data date. Page dates in our sitemap change only when a page's content actually changes.

How are CMS ratings and New York inspection records shown on this site?

Nursing home stars appear only for CMS-certified homes, exactly as CMS issued them and marked with CMS's data date, while assisted living residences carry no rating at all; for them we reproduce the inspection reports, violation counts and enforcement actions listed on NYS Health Profiles.

Any comparison we draw, for instance a home's reported nurse hours against New York's 3.5-hour floor or a residence's violations against the five-county median, is plain arithmetic on the published numbers, and the page names the benchmark it uses.

How are mistakes corrected on Rochester Senior Advisor?

Send the page address and what you believe is wrong to advisors@rochestersenioradvisor.com; if the error is ours we fix it and rebuild, and if the figure comes from the Department of Health or CMS we point you to the agency that maintains it.

Before changing a statement about a New York rule or a benefit amount, we recheck the regulation, GIS message or agency page it cites. Operators can ask us to fix how their data is shown but not to change what the state published.
